Medieval 2 Total War Stainless Steel

However,it's slow and population requirements is quite high. Unit spawn slower and improve a city is harder. 2 weeks to learn and finish venice on VH/VH. My fav tactic is useless cause i have to slow down my progress and militia is militia. Now playing England but longbow can only train in British isle, My sharped stake you will be missed.

Anyway SS is fun and make me feel like a new game. Please post any tactic advices you have. Playing on savage VH/VH, try to clear every faction if enough time.

Hello, so I'm pretty much a huge total war fan and have hundreds of hours into the series. Back in the day I used to play Rome 1 and Medieval 2 off of steam as I had them on disc. I re-purchased Med 2 on steam and was wondering if the Stainless Steel mod is worth playing. I very much enjoy the base. Manual tv lcd aoc 32.

Cavalry is insanely overpowered, especially generals. Bows are pretty strong too. Finally Units have been resized (either bigger or smaller) which means a stack of Militia can number 2000+ (201 men per unit). Now, early game its all about the militia/cavalry combo. Tactic guaranteed to win or your money back; Get a number of militia, four should do it.

Now place your general behind them. Cavalry on the flank, a bit back for now (better yet, hidden). Let the enemy engage your militia, they will do this with all their might, the AI is predictable like that. When they are fully engaged. Come up from behind and attack them in the rear, sandwiching them between your two forces. This tactic can beat any number of enemy, with any small number of forces.

For some reason the flanking/charge bonus, particularly with cav, has been buffed massively. This means one well timed cav flank will literally wipe out an entire unit. Rinse and repeat. Another thing is to stay away from generals.

I find they are MASSIVELY overpowered. They are cav so they have the flank buff but also the general has an extra amount of HP making him very powerful and very hard to kill. I cant emphasise this enough. My advice, bring some archers to kill him before he can do any damage. Aim at him with everything until he is dead, like, not a single one of them left. Even one of these dudes can cause real problems, especially early game.

Yes, mustering a large army is a problem at the beginning and it can seem a little slow. But look at this way. Use the tactic I have said and your loses will be minimal, 100/1000 should be the worst you'll encounter. This means one or two armies can take out a faction with ease. Find their main force, meet them in the field, destroy them, take their lands. With the reinforcement rate being low early game, they cant recover from an early defeat. Don't bother with sieges.

Just play the waiting game, or attack an enemy army outside the castle and defeat the defenders who come as back up. Remember too, retrain units, don't just build entirely new one. They'll have XP and they'll be available sooner.

Basically, its all about the cav. But likewise, be wary of enemy cav.
