Glock Serial Numbers Ending In Us

Glocks had the US suffix early on because Glock in Austria had separate production lines for guns that were to be sold to different markets. The ones being sent to the US didn't require some of the things that the ones being sold in Austria and Germany required, such as proof testing.

Glock also made pistols for special occasions and they would have unique serial numbers. At the beginning of Desert Storm, 15 Desert Storm Presentation Glocks with a serial number starting with UD were given to selected persons in the President Bush administration and Department of Defense.

I think it was GRT45 who said this, that Glocks sold in the US no longer had the US suffix beginning with the serial number prefix FED. Supposedly some of the full size frames that do not say 'Made in Austria' are made here, but the slide and barrel are made in Austria. The only reports of USA-made Glocks so far have come from the Philippines, and supposedly the first 100 USA-made Glocks were offered for sale to the employees of the Smyrna, GA facility. Click to expand.Brings up an interesting question: Are Glocks obtained by US special-service military units, that are allowed to acquire 'non-standard' handguns for duty use, produced in Austria instead of Smyrna, even with the 'domestic production capability' normally applied to foreign companies that produce weapons for the US military? This is not an 'objection' to Danny's post; it is an 'observation' of an amusing possible exception to standard procurement dogma.

The mere existance of a Glock factory in Smyrna may qualify ALL Glocks as a domestic product, even though NO domestically produced Glocks are used by the US military! Many frames made in the USA were matched to uppers made in Austria and exist in the USA--again full sized only. Sometime during the last two years uppers and barrels were added to the Smyrna production. To my knowledge, Smyrna is only producing 100% USA made G17's, and they are for export.

Glock is very secretive about their production facility. It is off limits to most employees and off limits to all visitors.

Imagine being in a court of law and the jury were to listen to expert opinion form a guy who has been a Glock armorer since 97 and probably knows more about Glocks history than all of us. Does he know every little thing like why they havent come out with a single stack 9mm or does the Glock 7 really exist probably not. What is your argument, that it doesn't make sense to you or do you have some facts to back up your statements/disagreement.
